IIT JEE (Main) Entrance Sample Paper

What is IIT/JEE Entrance Test?

JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) is a national-level exam that is conducted to get admission into IITs, NITs, and other prestigious engineering colleges across India. JEE entrance test occurs in two phases – JEE Main and JEE Advanced. The mode of the exam is online/computer-based so a candidate has to have knowledge of computers. JEE is one of the toughest exams to crack for aspiring students. The difficulty level of the exam is increasing every year and the number of candidates appearing for the exam is also increasing every year. More than 12 lakh candidates appear every year for a total of 11000 seats in 23 different IITs across India.

The JEE-Advanced score is also used as a possible basis for admission by Indian applicants to non-Indian universities such as the University of Cambridge and the National University of Singapore. The examination is organized each year by one of the IITs, on a round-robin rotation pattern. It has a very low qualification rate. The qualification rate of the JEE-Advanced in 2017 was approximately 0.92% (about 11,000 out of 1,200,000 who applied for JEE Main) and for the year 2020 was 2.1%. This is one of the toughest exam to crack in India.

What is the 75% eligibility criteria in JEE?

According to 75% eligibility criteria, a general candidate can appear for the JEE Mains examination if he/she scores an aggregate of at least 75% or above in the Class 12th Boards examination. For the SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates, they should have an aggregate of 65% in Class 12th Boards or should be under the top 20 category percentile of the qualifying examination. If these conditions are not met, according to the 75% eligibility criteria, an applicant is ineligible to sit for the JEE exam.
